Editorial Standards
Last updated: December 8, 2025
6 of 6 standards metWicks Local aggregates news from trusted local sources using AI-assisted synthesis. These standards guide how we collect, process, and present information.
1. Source Attribution
Every story links to its original source. We clearly identify where information comes from so you can verify and explore further.
2. Link to Originals
We summarize and synthesize, but we always point you to the full story. Our goal is to help you find information, not replace the journalists who create it.
3. AI Disclosure
Our digests are AI-assisted. We're transparent about this in every digest and on our Terms page. AI helps us process many sources quickly, but it's not perfect.
4. Verification Recommendation
We encourage readers to verify important information from original sources. Our summaries are for awareness, not for making critical decisions without checking the source.
5. Factual Accuracy
We strive for accuracy in our AI-generated summaries. When errors are identified, we correct them promptly. Our sources are established local news organizations.
6. Balanced Presentation
We aggregate from multiple sources to provide diverse perspectives. We don't editorialize or inject opinion into news summaries.
Our Sources
Wicks Local currently aggregates from 16 local news sources including:
- Local newspapers and magazines
- Regional TV news stations
- Public radio
- Government sources (weather, traffic, public safety)
All sources are established organizations with editorial standards of their own.
Corrections
If you notice an error in our digest, please let us know at . We take accuracy seriously and will investigate promptly.
What We Don't Do
- We don't create original reporting
- We don't publish opinion or editorial content
- We don't use sources that aren't publicly available
- We don't store or republish full article content
Fair use
Our summaries and excerpts are used under fair use principles for news commentary and community information purposes. We transform source material into digestible summaries, always link to originals, and aim to drive readers to the journalists doing the primary work—not replace them.
