Wicks is built on a simple idea: collect the minimum data needed to make things work. Here's what that means in practice.
What we collect
Almost nothing. We don't use analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising networks. We don't require accounts or collect personal information.
The only data stored locally on your device:
- Theme preference (light/dark mode) — stored in your browser's localStorage
- UI state (collapsed sections) — also localStorage, so the page remembers your preferences
This data never leaves your device. We can't see it, and it's deleted if you clear your browser data.
Wicks Local news digests
Wicks Local aggregates publicly available news from local sources. We link to original articles and don't store or republish full content. The AI-assisted summaries are generated fresh daily.
No cookies, no tracking
We don't use cookies. We don't track you across sites. We don't sell data (we don't have any to sell).
Third-party services
Our sites are hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which may log standard server information (IP addresses, browser type) for security and performance. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
Children
Wicks isn't designed for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. Since we don't collect personal data from anyone, this is straightforward.
Your rights
Privacy laws like CCPA and GDPR give you rights over your data. Since we don't collect personal data, there's nothing to request, delete, or transfer. Our approach exceeds what these laws require.
